mushroom and arugula salad

Warm Mushroom and Brown Rice Arugula Salad Recipe (inspired from my Thai Takeout!)

This absolutely delicious, easy meal was something I whipped up for my fiance yesterday in a few minutes. It was based on, and inspired by 3 things that I found in my fridge when I started pondering what to make to eat.  Also, sorry about the quality of these photos!  My Blackberry camera isn’t the greatest, but I really wanted to share this recipe with you guys!  It’s a great example of how easy you can apply your Beauty Detox/Glowing Lean principles easily into your life…takeout and all!

I had been working on my computer for a while, and when I stopped to take a break I realized how hungry I was. And not in the mood to have to spend a lot of time prepping! I wanted to eat more than just a plain old salad…

2

These were the 3 things in my fridge that I had laying around, that stood out to me:

  1. Sliced mushrooms (I love keeping these on hand because they are so easy to work with, especially when you don’t feel like a lot of prep work. They are also high in protein and vitamin D).
  2. Thai food leftovers- well brown rice leftovers that is. That’s all that was left from the day before!  Still, pre-made brown rice… hmm, I can work with that!
  3. Fresh basil.

3

I did have a lot of other veggies, and first I made a colorful salad just quickly tossing and throwing what I had on hand together. Sometimes I get those containers of pre-washed wild arugula, for when I don’t feel like breaking down kale. In this salad, I tossed in the wild arugula, microgreens (enzyme bounty), sliced radishes (high in vitamin C and silicon!), purple cabbage (high in vitamins A, C and E, as well as fiber and antioxidants) and baby bell peppers (yep, more vitamin C! Bring it on :) ).

Again, this only took a few minutes, because I didn’t have to wash and dry/break down the salad base (genius those packages are sometimes!), and making the salad first made me snack on a few veggies, since I was super hungry and wanted to nosh on what was within reach. So the moral is make only good things within thou reach when thou art super starved!

I tossed some fresh lemon juice and nutritional yeast through the salad (simple!) and left the salad to the side.

4Next, I started cooking the mushrooms in one of those “green”, non-toxic non-stick ceramic pans I am a huge fan of. No oil needed! Because the ‘shrooms came sliced, again, big time saver. I added some low-sodium tamari (which is gluten-free), a smidge of raw coconut nectar to add a touch of sweetness to my Asian-flared creation, some cayenne pepper, and fresh lemon juice (forgot to add to pic!). Next, i tossed in the brown rice, and stirred for a few minutes, then added the basil last and stirred that for a few minutes.

5

After the mushrooms were cooked through and everything smelled yummy, I tossed it into the salad and served it right away. If you are really hungry, you can still eat a bunch of the raw salad component first, but be more heavy in your dosage of ‘shrooms and brown rice. And vice versa if not so hungry. Brown rice is gluten-free, digests easily, low in fat and energizing. Add more shrooms for extra protein, if you like.

Give it a try! You never know when your Thai takeout can inspire a delicious, healthy and winter-friendly, warm/raw veggie meal.

Salad Ingredients:

  • 8oz mushrooms
  • 1.5 cup brown rice
  • 1 bunch basil
  • 1T nutritional yeast

Dressing:

  • 1T low-sodium tamari
  • About 1.5 T lemon juice
  • .5 T raw coconut nectar
  • Sprinkle of cayenne (or more if you like it hot!)

Believing it is really possible

Hi Loves,

I just wanted to quickly share with you a revelation I had today- right on my yoga mat!

Yoga is very confrontational for whatever is going on in our life, in our mind, our lives and our spirits. What we learn about ourselves and within the poses has the power to shift our consciousness past much more than the physical pose itself! Today I took “Flight School” with a wonderful woman named Summer, which is basically a yoga class that is all about inversions. Since I love being upside down, it seemed to be a perfect fit for me.

I have been able to do handstands for a few years now, and bakasana (crow pose) which is an arm balance. But I have never seen a girl be able to press up from a straight-armed crow pose into a handstand in front of me  …until today. Summer walked right up to the front to demonstrate, and did it right in front of me.

I had always seen lots of my guy friends do it, and thought it might be one of the poses that is easier for men and the male anatomy to accomplish. I never ever really worked on it because I didn’t think it could really ever happen. WELL I was wrong!!! Seeing the quiet grace with which Summer came onto her hands, bent her knees to the back of her arms and press straight up was awesome!! Like me she is not overly muscular and does not have a gymnastics background either.

Just SEEING that it was possible opened up my mind and I had an almost immediate paradigm shift. Once I knew she could do it, I knew I could do it too. Why? Because we all have the unlimited ability of consciousness within us. All new poses take work to master, but I never focused on that sequence of poses because I didn’t really think it was possible. I didn’t even try. But today after seeing her, I really focused on learning to press up in class today and I almost got it! And I know in a few weeks or months I will get it. Why? Again because I now believe and know that it is possible.

There are so many limitations we put on ourselves, even unconsciously. I challenge you to consider something that you’d really love to do or accomplish but didn’t think you could, and prove yourself wrong. It could be dropping back to your weight from college, learning a new language, getting the promotion at work, making the Green Smoothie every day (of course right!!), etc. It doesn’t have to be something huge- in fact starting with baby steps to accomplish “smaller” things can help us build confidence to go for more.

Except for the truly outrageous thoughts (hey we can’t all be President of the United States but we can do so many other things!) :) if you can even think about trying to pull it off… it IS possible!!

Also…it is the highly anticipated opening weekend of Iron Man 2. I remember being at the set last summer and the excitement back then during every day of shooting… I can’t wait to see it one of these weeks. You won’t catch me waiting in lines this weekend though.

On that note, have a relaxing night! I’m going to rest my pour wrists that had a lot of weight on them today, as I’ll go back to practicing my pressing up from crow into handstand tomorrow, now that I fully know and believe it is possible for me to achieve.

LOVE AND HARE OM,

Kimberly

My Food Lifesaver

Hi Guys!

I hope you are having a wonderful week! I’ve been having really long, but great days out here in LA. I have a few hours this morning before it gets insane again the rest of the day and all the way through the weekend, so I wanted to sneak a post in. :)

One of the things that really helps me when my schedule is crazy is the chlorella tablets I carry in my purse. I mentioned them in another post, but I want to give more info on them. For instance, yesterday, I was picked up at 7:45 am, and got to set at 9:00 am. I requested organic fruit, so there were a few organic apples for me, but the food and snacks laid out for the rest of morning and early afternoon were bagels and cream cheese, chips, etc. Stuff I would rather starve than eat!! Legally, lunch does not have to be served until 6 hours after shooting starts, meaning we weren’t going to have lunch until 3:00 pm. Keep in mind I am still sort of on East Coast time, so that for me is 6:00 PM!!! I wasn’t planning on fasting while working and being under lights and DOING STUFF!, and I didn’t have any access to making/getting any Green Drinks that day.

So… enter my lifesaver, my chlorella tablets!!

First of all, what is chlorella? It is an algae that has a balanced ratio of protein (a whopping 60%), carb (19%), fat (6%), bio-available minerals (8%), and moisture (7%).
I was a fan of spirulina first, and love it in recipes like my Spirulina Pie (which you should check out by the way! :) ). But then I discovered that chlorella has TEN times more chlorophyll than spirulina! (Hence the name). Why do we care about about chlorophyll? I have more info in my blog “Another reason to drink the Green Smoothie: Green Blood” which you can check out. Among many things, chlorella helps pull heavy metals out of the system, including mercury, lead, and cadmium. These metals can get in from our food supply and pollution, and can lodge all over the body, affecting everything. Chlorophyll also gives us tremendous energy, and can help balance the body, assisting with such functions as even fertility.

Chlorella also has around 92 trace minerals, vitamins, glycolipids, phycocyanin, sulfolips, carotenoids, superoxide dismutase, RNA and DNA, and is loaded with beta-carotene.

Because it is so high in minerals, micronutrients as well as macronutrients, it really helps keep me satisfied so I don’t pass out when I’m working and have no access to food. I chew about 10-25 at a time. When you really chew them, you taste the pure plant protein. I really like the taste- and I hope you do also! Drink water with them.

I keep them in my purse, and it is not uncommon for me to have a few between teaching and practicing yoga, on planes, and all similar types of emergencies. You can pick them up at health stores.

Okay, time to get back to work!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll post again very soon.
Lots of love!!!!!! Kimberly

How Our Tongue Gives Us a Clue on How Much Toxicity We Have

Hey Guys,

Hope all is well! I thought I would talk about our tongues today, which is a part of my body that I have seen remarkable tranformations in over the years while undergoing my own journey to vibrant health. While we might not think to look at our tongues very often (or at all!), having a little peak, and monitoring it over time can be very telling.

Tongue reading is a whole skill onto itself, and some Chinese doctors are experts in it, and can diagnose specific illnesses from seeing spots and patches on specific parts of the tongue. I am in no way an expert on tongue reading, but there are a few generalizations we can make.

Our entire digestive tract is lined with a natural mucous membrane. This membrane is very sensitive, and naturally transparent. When we eat a diet consisting of preservative chemicals, GMO foods, pesticides, very acidic foods, etc., we irritate this delicate lining.

The mucous membrane is always trying to diffuse impacted mucus and toxic residue up from the colon, intestines, and stomach to the less impacted areas of the digestive tract, such as the throat, mouth (tongue), and sinuses. This occurs through the simple process of diffusion, which is really the movement of particles from areas of greater to lesser concentration. The great Professor Arnold Ehret called the tongue a “magic mirror” because as soon as the body has a chance to diffuse toxins out of the lower digestive organs, it will do so and mucus will migrate up through the lining of the stomach, up the esophagus, and into the mouth.

The coating on the tongue is therefore a good indicator off how much constipated mucus has accumulated in the digestive organs. When our breath is really bad, especially in the mornings, this can also be a good indicator of how compromised or backed up our systems are. (Please note: Bad breath along with a dry mouth can also be a side effect of prescription drugs, which interfere with proper saliva production). When our breath generally improves, even having good breath in the morning (wouldn’t that be nice!), that is a good sign that we are cleansing.

If we know we are backed up, have a thickly coated tongue or issues with bad breath(!), we know that we have some cleansing work to do. That occurs by eating more cleansing foods, which include fresh produce and lots of greens, taking daily probiotic supplements, and buying organic food whenever we can. We must also give ourselves adequate time to go to the bathroom in the mornings and throughout the day, and cut out very acidic, clogging foods out, such as my 2 faves to dog on- dairy and soy. :) When our diet improves we can also think about getting some gravity centered colonics, which can be very helpful in pulling out old garbage. These types of colonics can actually strengthen our colons because our own bodies are doing the work (unlike hydraulic pressure units, which uses electric pressure to push water in and out. These are the kind of colonics people like Dr. Oz dismiss as unnecessary and say weaken your colon over time. Those kind of colonics I don’t recommend at all).

So you may want to take a look at your tongue, and monitor it over the months as you improve your diet and begin to cleanse. Mine has really cleared up, and I am very happy to say that I don’t wake up with really bad morning breath (the way I used to! :) ).

NBC Conn. Morning Show: Raw Pecan Pie and Party/Holiday Eating Tips

Hi Guys!

I know you think I’m being lazy by just posting videos and not writing..and maybe that is just a teeny bit true. It’s Friday! :) But I’ll write more very soon!

I wanted to post this since it was from right around Christmas, and for some reason I forgot to.

NOTE TO SELF: Do not make Raw Pecan Pies on air anymore!! If anyone saw my Good Day LA segment, where I also made this same Raw Pecan Pie, you’ll see what I did was pre-blended the filler, since the blender is so loud, and pressed the pie  crust in while talking on air. Both hosts helped me, but in a short segment there wasn’t enough time to press the crust in totally evenly, so it looked “lumpy” when I poured the mixture in.

In this segment, I reversed it. I had the crust mixture already pressed in, and made the filling on air. WELL the blender was so loud (and it was really just to demo), so I turned it off after a few seconds.  It certainly did NOT mix everything through very well… It was lumpy so I stopped pouring it into the pie. (That was the right thing to do right? I mean what else could I do??). I can’t believe the camera man sat on that terrible shot of the mixture for like 30 seconds!! What I really wanted him to do was sit on the shot of the finished pie pieces and what they are SUPPOSED to look like. Actually, I think the whole thing is kind of hilarious!! :)   And what a different kind of host he was compared to the some other shows’ hosts… such as eh hem, the Fox Philly hosts. At least he didn’t ask me any personal questions!

Btw the cameramen come late into the kitchen demo area, and I was miked up 30 seconds before going on air. Very stressful, and not my favorite!!!!!!!

Enjoy the segment, and have a great weekend. See you back here soon.

6 Easy, Household Foods for Detoxing and Beauty for 2010

Hello my loves,
These 6 foods are very easy for you to incorporate into your diet regime. These foods will help elevate your beauty and promote detoxing and cleansing on an ongoing basis. Bring them into your life!

1.    Celery. The organic potassium in celery is an important electrolyte that helps facilitate cellular cleansing. An easy and inexpensive way to maintain ongoing detoxification and our ideal fluid levels! Snack on celery sticks, add to salads, or put into my Glowing Green Smoothie.

2.    Figs. An excellent blood purifier. Since blood transports nutrients to cells throughout the body and face, the cleaner the blood the more beautiful the skin. The tiny seeds in figs are not only packed with nutrients, they help draw out and dissolve waste, mucus, and toxins from the intestinal tract.  Raw and dried figs both give these great benefits.

3.    Açai. Greatly popularized in 2009, Acai’s importance continues into this new year. Açai is loaded with beneficial nutrients and antioxidants, including Omega 3 fatty acids, amino acids, minerals, key vitamins and fiber.  The Omega 3 fatty acids found in Açai maintain the structure and fluidity of cell membranes, facilitating the inflow of nutrients and the outflow of waste products, promoting youthful, smooth and radiant skin by keeping skin cells hydrated and strong.  Acai can be purchased frozen in health stores and made into smoothies.

4.    Almond Milk. A great alternative to dairy and soy milk, which are both difficult to digest and mucus-forming. Simply switching to this product for milk uses is an easy and great way to clear up skin and help make it more radiant, keep our sinuses clear, and increase energy.

5.    Onions. This everyday food has a considerable amount of sulfur, which helps cleanse the skin and liver and rebuild connective tissues like collagen. Onions are also an exceptional source of usable quercetin, which works to eliminate free radicals. Onions can help lower blood pressure. If they make you a bit nauseated because of their cleansing properties (or irritated for that matter, as they can fire up that Pitta dosha element in some of us), just got back a bit!

6. Sunflower seeds. These seeds contain all 8 essential amino acids, which our bodies need to obtain from food sources, and uses to manufacture the other 15 amino acids and build protein chains in our bodies.  We can and should derive our protein needs from plant sources at least for a percentage of our diet, even if we are not full vegetarians. Plant protein sources are easier for our bodies to assimilate, and do not make our bodies acidic, the way digesting animal protein does.

Here’s to having a fabulous start to 2010!!

How To REALLY Eat Breakfast

Breakfast can either support our weight loss, beauty, and energy goals, or take us down…

Today I had a very interesting nutritional consultation with a beautiful, super tall ex-model who I’ll call Jillian.* She was super sweet (and far nicer than most of the models I remember from my own modeling days!), and I instantly felt like we were old pals. What is ironic is that she fully expected me to take a look at her diet, say she was doing great, and just recommend a couple of extra recipes.

Weeeeell….. it’s really not that simple. We can mistakenly think we are getting the proper nutrition or doing things “right” just because we are eating all raw food, we are taking a ton of different supplements, eating things we have read about in health and fitness magazines that tell us are healthy, or read in a few books.

The problem with most of these sources of information is that they do not take the biochemistry of the body into account, including the fact that our bodies are a hot 98 degrees, and that our bodies expend a LOT of energy in digestion, and secrete specific gastric juices to break down certain foods. We need to streamline this process so we free up energy to rebuild our skin and hair, detox our bodies on an ongoing basis, and make our bodies function as more efficient machines.

Here is what Jillian was currently eating for breakfast:

7:30 am:  2 cups of coffee, black
1 orange

9:00 am:   1 package of raspberries
1 bio-k soy probiotic drink
A chunk of manna bread with a good portion of cashew butter

My quick thoughts:

Jillian and I were together for 2 hours today, so there is a lot more to it and there was a lot of individualizing to her overall diet based on her exact health at this moment and her specific goals.
But I’ll say, that you can see by this summary there is a SMORGASBORD of food swirling around in poor Jillian’s tummy within her first few waking hours. The fruit, which digests in 20-30 minutes, is mixed in there with a mucus-forming, unfermented soy product, the starch of the manna bread (which by the way, is still heated to over 150 degrees so is definitely not raw, contrary to popular belief), and all the protein of the cashew butter. That is a lot! We don’t get nutrition or energy from our food until it reaches the villi in the small intestines. If it is sitting in the stomach for hours and hours with other foods trying to get out also (!), it will actually take our energy, not add to it.

Let’s keep it simple in the morning, so our bodies do not have to expend all its energy on digesting 50 things.

The best way to get easy assimilated nutrition into the body is my Glowing Green Smoothie. It is already blended, so our body gets the nutrients without all the work. The proper way to drink it is on an empty stomach, as it does contain fruit, and we want to let that pass first. After that, we can add more food on top of it, but I wouldn’t do it all at the exact same time.
 Recommendations for Jillian:

7:30 am: 1 cup of coffee (for now!)

1 pint of water with a probiotic supplement

9:00 or whenever she TRULY starts to feel hungry

My Glowing Green Smoothie
Wait 20-30 minutes.

If still hungry, follow with the manna bread or sprouted bread toast OR the best quality unprocessed bread you can find. Toast lightly.
Raw unpasteurized butter is okay because it doesn’t have the casein protein that other dairy products have, and digests okay with starch.

Under this plan, she is separating food groups, and eating foods from fewer food groups. We’ve removed concentrated protein at this meal, since it moves the slowest and Jillian is not active in the morning anyway. She is going to start feeling great and more energized! She will be full enough to get to lunch and won’t feel hungry, or that she needs to snack.

I am trying an experiment. I’ve never announced this publicly, but I want to open the door for nutritional consultations at this time. I find them really rewarding, and there is so much more to say that can’t all be said in general blogs. I also can’t thoroughly answer specific health questions you may have in the comments without knowing your background or diet, etc.

Consultations involve me looking at your goals, and your current diet and lifestyle, including when you are eating and what you are eating. It includes helping you create customized shopping lists and meal plans. If you are interested in finding out about the cost and format of a consultation, contact:

info@kimberlysnyder.net.

Have a great holiday week, and I will write more soon!

Love and Peace, Kimberly

Good Morning America! Detoxing Do’s and Don’ts

Hey Guys,

So here is the clip from my Good Morning America piece! It aired live Saturday morning, and the response has been INSANE. As soon as the piece aired, thousands and thousands of people clicked to the ABC website, with about 13,000 people clicking through to my blog. Many thousands more have come to visit since then! I believe we have really touched a nerve. It speaks loud and clear that people are interested in detoxing and cleansing, and what that really means and how to do that- not just turn to the prevalent “quick-fix” fads that are floating around out there!

I have gotten several hundred emails and comments to answer in the last few days- so I will get to every one of them, and thanks for your patience as I work my way through! I am trying to spent a few hours each evening doing some at a time, after I finish my work for the day. Please remember that it hard for me to go into depth with personal questions, since I don’t have know your health and dietary background. If you would like to set up a phone consultation (which I would have to charge for, or I would be on the phone all day! :)   ), that is a possibility if you’d like to email me. Otherwise, I will answer all of you as best (and as quickly!) as possible, and please stay tuned here for lots more posts coming. For you that are new to the blog, I usually post 2-3 times per week.

As I was watching the clip- oh and by the way we did it live twice, one for the earlier segment and one for the later- and this one is longer and far better I think with more info, it struck me how funny this is:

We talk about these foods in general in our diet contributing to toxins:

I am a huge advocate of weaning ourselves slowly off these food groups- animal products, alcohol, gluten, refined sugar, and caffeine- but taking incremental and progressive steps. Otherwise, we run the risk of autointoxication, getting more sick than when we started because we awaken poison drastically and don’t extract it adequately from the body, and/or feeling deprived and going right back to our old habits…or worse!

But seriously, look at this food!! I mean, really look at it.  It’s actually quite, um…UGLY! It’s all brown and dark or pasty white. Or worse, a pink slab of rotting by the second, red-meat carcass. BARF!!!!! Processed up the wazoo. When you really take a step back and look at it, you can see how this food would have to, over time slowly poison us, and see that myriad chemical and processing steps were taken to get it to look like that! And its all so tiny! The quantities I mean. When you eat those kinds of foods with super concentrated proteins and high density calories, no wonder everyone is getting bigger and bigger and still hungry, still unsatisfied, and still can’t lose any weight!

THEN, it’s like…“Follow me to the land of abundance, my friend!” As the host and I walked over to the other part of the set, this is what you see:

Beautiful, huge piles of fruits and vegetables, a whole abundance of gorgeous greens and produce from the earth! When we eat food like this, we are easily getting so much assimilated and digestible minerals, fiber, vitamins, that of course we are going to feel great, have more energy, and purify and cleanse our body on an ongoing basis! I mean, I don’t think I really have to convince you…look at the difference in the two pictures!! :)

A few items about the Green Smoothie that many of you have asked me:

1. YES you need a decent blender. You can NOT make this in a food processor. Your blender needs to be able to get this smooth- if it is chunky it will taste disgusting and grainy. If you don’t have a decent blender, I think it is worth the investment.

If that’s not possible right now, then blend it smooth and if it gets warm b/c it takes a while, put it in the fridge the night before so it cools before morning.

2. The Green Smoothie keeps for about 2-3 days max in the fridge. Keep it covered. You can half the recipe if you prefer to make it more often. You should drink at least 16 ounces a day.

Well, I’ll write more soon. Come visit again!

And have a beautiful, wonderful day!

With Love,

Kimberly

The Post-4th of July Cleanse

Hello love,

How was your holiday! I hope it was relaxing and wonderful, and that you had a great time recharging. Well perhaps you did not eat um…optimally, shall we say? Which is totally okay when you are on a break! It happens to all of us, and the key is just to get back on track. Perhaps you are feeling a bit heavy from a barbeque (or two!), some poor food combining (watermelon after cooked food!!! Eek), a little too many alcoholic beverages and not consuming toooo many foods that are the color green??? :)

So many of you have written me that you want to start to cleanse “after the 4th of July.”
Well I get it: The holiday was a time for letting loose and hanging out with your fam and friends. But holy smokes, summer is really here and yes, you will have to contend with wearing a bathing suit and less clothing in general in the coming months (admittedly the more surface reasons to cleanse, but yes we all care about those as well!). Also, yes, now is a great time to cleanse in the warmer months as there is so much great produce available, and we can spend more time outside walking, meditating, reflecting and hopefully getting closer back to our real, balanced inner self. Sounds great right!!! Well, step by step.

The first thing to discuss, as I sort of alluded to in the Hitting the Wall blog a few blogs ago is that it is possible to hit walls of detoxing as we are going through, and now one point I must bring up is do NOT do something drastic!! You might “overcleanse” too fast meaning you will wake up too many toxins at once and totally overwhelm our detoxing, eliminative organs. This could prove problematic as you will inevitably feel crappy and could have too many breakouts and headaches, and you will further put your body out of balance. There is too much for the body to extract at once, so you are just recirculating the poisons without really pulling them out, which we need to accomplish in the true definition of cleansing. You could end up waking up way too much, too fast, so much that the poisons get reabsorbed into the body and the blood and tissue. Remember that cleansing is a gradual, long-term process and starting some new shifts after a holiday is a great motivation. But nothing crazy! So in other words, what I’m trying to say is make good progressive changes, don’t rush to do something drastic like try to be a 100% raw foodist or ….start the dreaded Master Cleanse (of which I am SO not a fan, and think is a short-term gimmicky, quick-fix, does no good in the long run, way to reabsorb and self-poison drink of BULL- shiggity!! Excuse me but I had to say it. :) ).

So let’s make some great changes for the week ahead (and some of them you may decide to keep after this, which would be great!). Most people will have consumed a hefty scale of acidic food and beverage items this weekend (meat, alcohol, coffee, chips, pasta salad, etc. etc. ). So let’s try to restore balance by bringing in more alkalinity now. An acidic body is a heavy body, starting in the bowel and making us heavier than our ideal weight. An acidic body has less energy, less than glowing skin, and a preponderance to getting anxiety attacks and getting stressed out more easily.

So here are some great goals for you this week, say until next Sunday, July 12th. You can do it!

-    Completely abstain from alcohol.

-    Start your day with your hot water and lemon (read my post, “Good Morning, How is Your Colon Today?) to stoke the digestive fires.

- Don’t let coffee be the first thing to hit the body. If you can skip the coffee this week that would be great- or at most one if you feel that you need to be weaned off slowly!

-    After this and before your Green Smoothie take a high quality probiotic supplement.

-    Be sure to make eat the Green Smoothie every day as your first meal of the day (you can 2 days’ worth at a time to save time). THIS IS ONE OF THE KEYS!!

-    For lunch have a big salad and be sure to squeeze plenty of lemon on it. No creamy dressings. You can throw some apple cider vinegar on there, and a small amount of olive oil. You can put on any veggies you like and a whole avocado for good, long-burning fuel. Don’t eat any bread products, pasta or crackers at lunch.

-    Drink Detox Tea in the middle of the afternoon as a “snack” when you get hungry. It is freshly sliced ginger and lemon, and if you like it a bit sweet Stevia. This will give the digestion a nice boost again.

- If you need other snacks before dinner, you can have some raw veggies, the other half of your salad lunch if you only ate half of it (a smart move sometimes!), or a low glycemic fruit like some berries. Or more filling, yummy, chilled Green Smoothie!!

-    Completely abstain from red meat.

- Completely abstain from any packaged food bars, protein bars or anything containing soy protein isolates.

-    Completely abstain from any cooked oils (even olive oil!). That means if you want to eat some cooked veggies for dinner, etc. you can get steamed veggies, and if you order fish or something like that get it steamed too. Trust me, if you want to cleanse efficiently, the cooked oils will really delay the process!!

-    Dinner will be started by a green salad, again with lots of lemon and raw apple cider vinegar, and a tad of olive oil. After then make sensible choices and no red meat. But if you’ve eaten well up until now, you can have more leeway here.

- Desert should be a piece of an at least 72% cacao dark chocolate bar, or one of my deserts. But only like 3 truffles, not  12 of them!! :)

This is a great plan to start the ongoing cleansing process. Remember, we don’t do “A cleanse”. We cleanse!! Cleansing is work and we need to get back on track sensibly while not shocking the system at the same time. You are going to be be right on track for feeling and looking fabulous. Yay! :)

I hope you do well with this and make good choices!
Let me know how you do and feel.

Lots of love,
Kimberly
