Hey Guys! Check out my video of my travel snacks. I just flew back to LA from NY this evening, but these are some of my travel snack staples.

Hope you are well! I’m back to crazy business here in LA as well but will write more soon.  :)

You can take food INTO airports but usually you’re not allowed OUT into a separate customs zone (e.g. interstate or international) with fruit and other potential threats to agriculture. So just make sure you eat it all up before you disembark.

When traveling internationally on long business trips, my primary concern is the weight/size to nutrition ratio and unfortunately, many fresh fruits and vegetables are not allowed across borders. I usually go to REI before a trip and grab a bunch of the coconut almond meal packs. What would you suggest?

I’ve heard the same thing as Emma. That is not possible to travel with food that comes outside of the airport. Probably not true then. Yey! What do think about almonds as a plane snack?

This was at LAX. I’ve taken food into airports all around the world- and all over Europe on a press tour a few months ago. I never leave home w/o snacks.

        Hi Kim,
LOVE your book and your blog, but here in Hawaii you can’t take fruits/veggies any kind of FRESH produce on some flights. I live in beautiful Hawaii and you are not allowed to take, for example, an apple brought from home into the boarding area if you’re going to the mainland. If you’ve bought food from inside the airport, after you’ve gone through security…that’s acceptable. And you CAN bring fresh produce/outside food in with you traveling between islands. Hawaii tries to keep insects, diseases, etc. not found on our islands out and vice versa. Another example, when Christmas trees are shipped here from the Northwest, a few are brought onto the dock and inspected. If there are insects on them, the containers are not allowed to be unloaded and they get shipped back across the Pacific. When you land in Hawaii, you are supposed to fill out a form and also declare any live plants you might have with you…for agriculture dept…and you are supposed to leave them in an amnesty bin in the airport. We are fortunate not to have certain diseases like rabies here, but the restrictions sure do put a damper on healthy food when traveling from our isalnds!

    Hi Kim!

I’ve just started too read your book, and I am learning so much. Thank you. But I have some questions about food combining.

    1. Are beans proteins or starches?
    2. Can I eat hempseeds with everything?
    3. What about seed- and beansprouts?

Love the book and all the awesome info, Kim! Thank you! I am trying very hard to work on food combining…it takes a lot of thinking! I do love fruits, veggies and greens but I can go days feeling like a salad just doesn’t sound good so I have a hard time eating 2 big salads a day…still working on that as well. Also, I got chlorella tablets and I have tried chewing them but can’t stomach the taste. Is it ok to just swallow them?
I have been struggling with dehydrated facial skin (with a dry red patch under my eye) and it gets easily red/patchy and pigmented. My hair seems dry and I have lots of breakage at the ends and my nails are peeling. –All despite increasing my water and coconut water intake. Any suggestions? I am worried it is due to low intake of protein and vitamin B12. What brand of B12 do you suggest and what type of B12-I see there are different forms. I will continue to follow the plan as best ast possible to see if any of my symptoms change. Any further suggestions will help so much!
Thanks again for all your knowledge and passing it along to the rest of us! Wonderful job!
    Sincerely,
    Ann Parker

HI Ashley, that’s terrific! Yes, my next book will most definitely be a recipe book!! There’s so many more to share. :)

I’m so happy that you are making the Ananda Burrito. I eat it very often and love it!! Those recipes are pulled right from my own diet and what I love to eat myself.

Next time I eat it I will think of you, and know that you are eating it somewhere out there too!! :)

Thanks for the tips, Kimberly! I’ve been making your Acai Goji Granola and LOVE it. You mentioned in the video the granola you brought with you is “nut free”. Is the Acai granola still OK to eat or do you have another granola recipe that you make at home that you could share with us all? MUCH APPRECIATED! Off to whip up the Glowing green smoothie before I go to work to give me energy and endurance. I am a landscaper and it is a beautiful day here in North GA. Green smoothies do wonders for me. BTW, my dogs love the smoothies too. Once the Vitamix turns on, they coming running into the kitchen and sit patiently till their bowls are put down on the floor for them to lap up. Have a wonderful day you beautiful soul.

Wow, that’s great!! I’m so happy to hear your dogs love The Glowing Green Smoothie too. Is their hair getting shinier? Ha ha! :)

I didn’t mean by that comment that the nut granolas are bad- but rather that that particular one I bought was just buckwheat groat-based. I do hope you are having your granola plain or with almond milk though, rather than with dairy.

Take care and please come visit me again!

Hi Kim, if I make my own granola, does that mean I cannot put any nuts or fruit in it because that would go against the food pairing rules? Thank you!
